Welcome back to Old Camp Joy!
First established in 1959 and now rebuilt in 2015
Old Camp Joy's storybook cottages offer a beautiful, pastoral setting for lakeside vacations. Amenities include central heat and air conditioning, excellent well water, charcoal barbeques with side tables on masonry platforms, fire pits (with complimentary firewood), electric fireplaces, high quality white linens, and private decks with comfortable chairs overlooking the park-like landscape down to the water. In the middle of our little 'Joy Town', there is a laundry house with washer and dryer, concessions, and information about the lake, nearby restaurants, and shopping. Open lofts with uniquely hand-painted vaulted ceilings, equipped kitchens, and large windows providing a bright, airy atmosphere ensure you won't experience cabin fever if the weather keeps your gathering indoors. Each cottage is named and furnished to tell a story from history, so we hope you will leave having learned something new! One of the cottages, (Sproul House), is wheelchair friendly. Boat trailer parking is available and beautiful Cedar Springs boat launch is just minutes away. Pull your boat up to the beach in front of your cottage after a day of fishing, or, cast from the beach -- the fishing is fabulous either way! We look forward to serving you should you choose to stay with us!

Birds, Bees and Butterflies

Woodlands, meadows and plenty of fresh water make Old Camp Joy a magnificent habitat for a vast and diverse variety of birds. Several species of ducks populate the lake along with Great Blue Herons and Egrets. Summertime brings the steady march of turtles up from the lake, ready to lay their eggs. Come fall, hundreds of gorgeous white Pelicans fill our bay, coming and going with regularity through winter. Especially in spring you'll enjoy the din of nesting song birds all around the cottages in the trees and shrubbery. We are continually adding more flowering vines and trees which draw hummingbirds, honey bees, bumble bees and of course lots of butterflies! Mockingbirds, scissor-tailed flycatchers, bluebirds, mourning doves and so many more make our camp a little piece of heaven on earth. Several gigantic snags within clear sight all three cottages allow our guests to sit and enjoy their morning coffee as they follow the sound to identify various woodpeckers, such as the Pileated Wood Pecker. So bring your camera and binoculars! We'd love to hear what you discover during your stay with us!

Fishing

Lake O the Pines is known as one of the best fishing lakes in Texas. And we're on one of the very best fishing spots on the lake. Many tournament winning fish have been caught right in our cove. Check out this web link to get all the information you need about the lake itself and the species of fish here.
